Antoine Auriol - BIOGRAPHY

Antoine Auriol was born in the East of France on 20th November 1984. A defining moment in his life came when his family moved to Brittany and he tasted the freedom of the sea for the first time.

In the Auriol family, sport is taken to an art form, a passion that has run in the blood for generations. Antoine showed a love for sport and a naturel talent for gymnastics; which his parents encoraged and supported. Choosing to specialise in trampoline, he quickly excelled to reach the top five in France in his age group.

At 15, his sporting life was turned up side down when he discovered a new sensation: windsurfing. This discipline corresponded to his temperament of creativity, freedom, combined with a love for speed, and being on the water. He achieved excellent results, and in 2003, won the European Youth Championship in the “Olympic board” class. A discipline both physical and strategic, as every competitor uses the same material, it makes it a true test of skill.

At the same time, Antoine discovered kitesurfing. The sport combines his previous disciplines: trampoline with it’s rotations in the air, artistic gymnastic for the power and the style, and windsurf for the knowledge of the wind and the sea.
His initial excitement continued to grow as his abilities progressed and he pushed himself and the sport to new levels.

In 2004, without a sponsor, and just for the pure fun of it, he competed on the Kiteboard Pro World Tour. Although only taking part in two of the six events, he finished 10th overall, winning the attention of a kite brand who sponsored Antoine to compete in all the events for the 2005 KPWT season. He finished 3rd in the Wave Masters discipline, and 4th in freestyle. “For a first season, it’s more than encouraging!” says his team manager right after the finals.

Since 2006, he is in the top 3 riders in the world, and this year, he just became World Champion KPWT 2010 !!

Antoine lives in Cadix (Spain), close to the sea, where he can be found training every day. He plays the piano and composes music that you could hear in his dvd : EARLY TIMES - a kiteboarding road movie with a sharp esthetic sens of image created by his younger brother Thomas, around the most wonderful seas of the world with amazing views of him into the wild. He likes also to photography the world and people who cross his path...

Antoine represents brands in both kite and fashion world, and is becoming a worldwide Ambassador.
Since 2 years, he is the image of the new LACOSTE perfumes.
Friendly and multilingual, he seduces all those around him with his talents, looks and attitude. In one word: an icon.
